On Med-Surg unit. Assisted patients with ADL, observed nursing procedures.
Transitioned from aide to RN on same unit, earning the respect of physicians and co-workers. Moved to pediatric unit at another building owned by same Hospital, where I was afternoon charge RN and built my pediatric expertise. Then assisted with move of Pediatric unit back to original Hospital building where I became Assistant Clinical Manager. Moved to Ambulatory Surgery Center with main emphasis on my Pediatric background. Built skills with all age groups and all aspects of a hospital based Outpatient Surgery Center.
Moved from Pre-endoscopy area of Ambulatory Surgery Center to Pre-Surgical Screening department to become Charge and to assist in defining criteria for that department. After 30 months there, moved to Pre-operative area to continue flow from Pre-surgical screening department. I have since become a valued resource person for many colleagues for my clinical and technical knowledge as well as my hands-on skills.
I have also taken classes toward furthering my degree.
