05/2006 to 05/2008 Operations Maintenance Technician Veolia | San Bernardino, CA,
  • Part of a 3 man crew. Working days consisted of nights, weekends, holidays, and inclement weather.
  • Operator of large equipment such as, boom truck, backhoe, dump truck, forklift, skylift, tractors and scissor lifts.
  • Equipment removal from large production facilities such as Smithfield Foods. Machines would be dismantled on the line then removed so that new production equipment could be installed.
  • Operator of the following tools; Plasma Arc Cutter, Acetylene Torch, Grinders, Portaband Saws, large hammers, welding machines and mig welders, wrenches, assorted hand tools and other cutting equipment. Prepping materials so that they could be installed by other techs with more expertise in certain fields such as welding and pipe fitting.

  • Part of a 4 man crew working 12 hour rotating shifts. Work days consisted of nights, weekends, holidays, and in inclement weather
  • Participant of Safety Team briefings prior to shifts and prior to certain plant maintenance.
  • Daily Preventative Maintenance on equipment to make sure the boilers could be brought on line at anytime.
  • Work orders completed and reviewed prior to any maintenance on down equipment.
  • Maintained compliance with all safety procedures from both client and employer.
  • Maintained daily logs of operations. If equipment failed, or was found to be inoperable, maintenance on the equipment was conducted. All valves and pressure gauges would be checked to ensure the system was operating properly, and motors were checked to make sure bearings were functioning in order.
  • Maintenance consisted of using tools needed to perform the task efficiently and successfully, i.e box end wrenches, pipe wrenches, torque wrenches, hammer drills, channel locks, pliers, grinders, cutting torch, large hammers, lifts, ladders, wenches, chain falls and other maintenance equipment tools.
  • Operators were responsible for removing boiler casings, grades, handrails, manhole and hole covers to facilitate access to boilers or other vessels for repair. Such as; gasket cleaning/replacing, replacing chains and belts on feeder pullies, pipe fitting when replacing pipe lines, grate removal and replacement inside boilers, repacking around boiler tubes, greasing bearings, insulating new and older pipe lines.
  • Cleaned and maintained boilers and associated equipment to increase efficiency and performance level.
  • Preformed lock out tag outs during shut downs and plant maintenance
  • Operated large equipment such as Michigan L90 Loader for unloading coal trucks and refilling coal bunkers. Fork lifts were used to unload acid and other items used to treat the waste water.
  • Operators would bring the plant online and offline at the direction of Control Room Operator. Fuel Handling Equipment would be started and brought up to speed by the operator, once on line the operator would keep the equipment functioning at the rate the control room operator requested based on the amount of Mega Watts that were required.
  • Fuel Handling Equipment would be managed throughout the process to keep the plant online and running as it should.
  • Daily Environmental, Health and Safety Checks; Fire Pump System in working order, eyewash stations function properly, all fire extinguishers are in working condition and placed where they are required to be and in compliance date.

  • Daily Emissions Test Preformed on Bag Houses to ensure safe levels of operation.
  • Operator of Ash Removal Equipment. Ash would be removed from the boiler, sent to the bag house where it would later be removed from the facility, all by a large vacuum system.
