Colombian naval Officer by initial training which after retiring from the navy went to work in the merchant navy mainly in foreign countries with foreign Officers and Crews.
Have sailed on all oceans and different countries world wide and on board different types of Merchant ships with more than 30 years actual sea time as Captain with excellent reputation in ship handling and overall performance as head of the team driving the ship.
In 1980 as Master of the LPG/C Mundogas Rio was attacked by Iranian Gunboats when vessel outbound Hormuz strait after loading in Saudi Arabian Port of Ras Tanurah a full cargo of refrigerated Ammonia, on the attack 1 cargo tank was perforated by rockets and the Engine room and accommodation were on fire for several hours till all crew landed on rescue tugs when the fire was out of control.
No crew lost on the attack and the 12 hours of fighting the fire, after I remained o/b one of the salvage tugs as owners rep until fire was put off
and since one cargo tank was perforated the ammonia in this tank has
to be pumped off . Vessel was towed out of coastal waters to high seas
and cargo pumped overboard . Incident was investigated by the U.S navy deployed in Gulf at that time and the USN Vincenes deployed in the area at that time was also attacked and have to shut down an Iranian airplane.
The Mundogas Rio was latter rebuilt and I was deployed by the company
as assistant to the Senior Superintendent in charge for the rebuilding at Singapore (Sembaguan shipyard) during the 8 months of the operation
after rebuilt took the vessel to Northwest Europe for LPG trade between U.K, Germany , Spain and Mediterranean countries.
Have been Captain of various types of LPG/c Gas tankers, from initial Pressurized of about 3000 Cubic mtrs, followed to Semipressurized upto 23,000 Cubic Mtrs and last fully ref of 98,000 Cubic mtrs, Bulk Carriers of 20,000 gross tonnage, Car Carriers of 5,500 cars capacity and medium size containers vessels all involved in worldwide trade and have work with Spanish Officers and Crew, Filipinos Officers and Crew, British Officers, Chilean Officers and Crew, Indian Officers and Crew, Norwegian Officers, Croatian Officers Have assisted ship superintendents from Norway and U.K on mayor repairs | of Car Carriers , Bulkers and rebuilding of a Gas Tanker after rocket attacks in the Persian gulf during Iran / Irak war. Was for 6 months on board the LPG/C Mundogas America (53,00 cubm) floating storage and supply for the LPG plant of Ecuador in Guayaquil (FSU). Have been captain on Liberian, Panamenian, Saint Vincent & NIS flags ships |

Was Captain on LPG /C Gas tankers upto 98,000 Cubic meters capacity of fuly refrigerated LPG/C gas Tankers .
Trading mainly Persian Gulf to Far East, Norway to USA Gas Terminals in Savannah, Tampa and US Gulf Ports. Latter fom US Gulf Houston to Mexico and Honduras when U.S started exporting LPG in 2013 to became one of the largest producers of LPG gases.
Before my employment with wallem was working with MUNDOGAS also on board gas tankers as Captain on board Gas tankers trading world wide.
Before started my Gas tanker experience with TROPIGAS main office
in Miami on board the Gas Tanker Fred H. Billups transporting LPG from Venezuela to different Ports in the Caribean, Puerto Rico, Bermuda and Port Everglades, work with Tropigas from 1971 till 1980 just after leaving my commission in the Colombian Navy .

Latter on CCT transportation of different cargoes to Honduas, Guatemala and Guayaquil and bringing reefer cargoes to Miami

Graduated with honors as a Naval Officer .
Trining center in Key West and Norfolk USA attended 6 month courses
on ASW warfare.
Colombian Naval Academy 1969 Post graduated courses and promoted
to LTJG.
Quit the Navy in 1971 and work for 6 month as Pilot in the Port of Santa
Marta Colombia and then was recruited by TROPIGAS Miami to work as
Chief Mate on board a Gas tanker Fred H. Billups and promoted after 6 months to Captain.
Have attended different courses of ship handling in Norway, England
and USA.
