I have been the full time nanny for this lovely family of four children. It has been a wonderful position for me as we worked on getting three of our own teenagers launched. It has been a joy to teach their two young girls to read.
Paul and Heather Mansour are a family in Scranton, PA and Key West, Fl, who desired to have their five children taught a Classical curriculum. I was their full time private teacher for two school years. The children ranged from 4 to 11 years old. Each child would come to their school room for 1 1/2 hours each day for instruction. We would enjoy reading The Story of the World, and memorizing Greek and Latin roots, etc.
I taught a combination classroom of 1st - 3rd graders for two years. And, then, a combination of 4th - 5th graders for two years. The A Beka curriculum was taught at Faith Mountain.
We lived as a family in a dormitory of 65 women university students. It was my responsibility to mentor the RA's, dorm officers, and other women who so desired. I would regularly lead dorm devotions, help organize fund raisers, and implement fun activities within the dorm.
It was our privilege to model living a life for the Lord before these women.
During this time, I was able to home school our children.
After leaving the dorm to teach at Faith Mountain, we returned as Resident Directors for another four years. (fall of '05 - spring of '09)
This was my first teaching position. I taught 2nd grade for one year and 5th grade for the second year. We moved to Texas in 1992, due to my husband pursuing his doctoral studies.
Northland International University (NBBC) - Dunbar, WI
Northland Baptist Bible College was the name of the college when I graduated in 1990 with my degree. Their elementary education program is known to be very rigorous and excellent. I student taught in Rockford, IL at Rockford Christian Schools.
