Determined educator with strong interpersonal skills supportive of a great passion of working with a diverse background of professionals and students. Leadership skills as a department head has developed a strong foundation for developing personal relationships, accepting and utilizing feedback, organizational and time management skills. With three years of teaching experience at a TItle I school, I am an advocate for providing a lasting relationships of striving for student success in all aspects of learning and development. Additionally, I am exceptionally driven to further myself as a professional, recently passing the English Secondary Certification for grads 7-12, and achieving my Masters of Arts Degree in Curriculum and Instruction as an Advanced Instructor. With the support of professionals and peers, I have developed a great respect of learning and implementing new ideas in the educational field, as well as being a team player to both supporting staff, co-workers, and most importantly, in the lives of my students.
My experiences at Lincoln have included teaching both 7th and 8th grade history, being an active member of the campus behavioral team, department head of the history department, and an active supporter of my students and co-workers day in, day out. I have gained the knowledge and experience of a leader in formal and informal settings, effectively utilize data and PLC planning cycles, and I am in a constant state of promoting engagement and successful learning opportunities for my students. I have also taught a professional development course over digital interactive notebook creation, implementation, and student feedback for the SAISD district. Prior to the 2020-2021, I was asked to help select online coursework for virtual learners from grades 6th through 12th alongside our district secondary humanities coordinator.
Taught U.S. History, in general class settings, modified settings, as well as guided lessons with Advanced Placement/ Dual Credit students. Taught Psychology to further undertake advancement and experience of all realms of my capabilities. Worked under three mentor teachers, in hopes of learning as many skills and ideas as possible. Emphasis on this experience included Capturing Kids Hearts, integrating technology when possible, and preparing students for both further education as well as careers in a non-education focal point.
Lake View High School - Completed 30 plus hours in various World History and Psychology courses under the supervision of Leslie Milford and Coach Kyle Jones. Activities included lesson plan creation and implementation, observation of classroom management and student learning styles. Successfully completed assessed lessons under a Angelo State University supervisor and Ms. Milford based on collaborative learning and discussion based lecture. Lee Middle School- Completed 15 plus hours of American History under the supervision of Thomasa Alvarez. Duties included monitoring students, developing extensions of lessons, and acting in a guided co-teacher role. Observations of a middle school classroom, along with classroom management.
Graduated with a 3.917 GPA in 1.5 years.
Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies Composite along with a minor in Political Science, with Texas teacher certification. Graduated with honors Magna Cum Laude.
Attended from August 2013 to December 2014 before transferring into Angelo State University.
May 2017- Acted as a judge for the Region II - A UIL meet held at Angelo State University. Work included reading gifted students writing and comprehensible political science knowledge while also writing back positive and useful feedback for student's continued advancement and success. March 2017- May 2017 - Served as a mentor to an at-risk young man in first grade who attends Santa Rita Elementary in San Angelo, TX. Met with student two hours a week for eight weeks in which we read, played games, and talked about improving his behavior and life together. Overall results were great, his improvement in his daily life was achieved, and both of us became better individuals through our time together. August 2018 - Designed and built a food collection bin for Manna House, a local food bank collection organization in Midlothian, TX. This project allows for a year-round collection of non-perishable food stuffs to help ensure those in our community have food in times of struggles. This project was undertaken as a personal desire to do more in my community and under the approval of the organization, I was able to complete the project in a timely matter and it remains in currently and highly successive operation. August 2019 - Attended and participated in UTSA's Pre-AP Conference in San Antonio to best serve the needs of advanced learners/
