I am Ifti Hossain, a current Senior Biomedical Engineering major at the University of Texas at Dallas.
As an undergraduate, I wanted to focus not only on the classroom aspect of learning, but an overall development as a student by actively participating in clubs, volunteering, and working part-time at labs on campus. During my undergraduate years, I was able to design and construct simple EMG, EKG, as well as robotic arms through my BME curriculum. Using operational amplifiers, diodes, motor controls, as well as code. My peers and I were able to not only troubleshoot our project, but continuously learn and adapt to any problems we faced during the project. Although the process was frustrating at times, we were able to be flexible and tweak the project to make it successful within guidelines. These projects have enhanced my ability to apply what I have learned in class, in order to research and actively develop projects. Apart from academic skills, I have taken leadership roles in 3 different student organizations and believe that I can apply technical skills such as efficient collaboration, planning, and embodying values to help accomplish common goals. I am enthusiastic to contribute my knowledge and experience I have learned in my research and bio labs in professional environments to further advance my skills. I am a team player, quick learner, and with my contributions, I gain individuals' trust and confidence through committed delivery. For instance, as Industry Chair for BMES, I collaborated with my executive board to plan a Career Fair directed towards BME students on campus featuring 10 major companies in the DFW area. Furthermore, I was able to work with many philanthropies such as JDRF, Carter Blood Care, as well as Be the Match to host events on campus as my fraternity's service chair.
I believe I can apply these technical and interpersonal skills to communicating effectively with peers as well as networking with other institutions to develop strong relationships. I am actively looking for ways to further enhance my skills and be productive towards my passions.
