I am originally from Arlington, Tx. I am from a Navy family. Fortunately , my father retired shortly after I was born so we didn't move around. In Jr. High and High school I participated in sports including softball, volleyball and track. I also was a member of the speech club and the theater arts. I left home at age 16 and went straight to work. I am a very self motivated person who enjoys being active and a team player. I have have two sons, Donovan (age 20) and Matthew (age 5) I enjoy being a mother and find it easy to balance work and home responsibilities. I am also looking to start Yoga teacher certification training in the near future due to my interest in the heath and wellness field. I am a non-drinker/smoker and enjoy a mostly vegan diet.
I have 25+ years in the service industry along with Medical insurance Billing Certification. I feel like I would be a great addition to the Foodlion team!
In 2003 I acquired a Medical Insurance Billing Certification and found employment in the administrative office of a Neuropsychiatry practice. I was responsible for retrieving messages for our practitioners and relaying patient and doctor correspondence. I also worked as a medical technician, taking vitals, administering and explaining various computer generated fact finding computer tests for the patients. I really enjoyed this position, however, I found the mostly sedentary nature of office work not suited for me. I became pregnant with my youngest child in 2015 and decided to leave the workforce to protect the pregnancy due to my advanced age, I was 40 at the time and really wanted to be a stay at home mom until he reached school age. He starts kindergarten at Pineville Elementary in Sept.2021, so I feel I am ready to get back into the workforce.
In this position I was responsible for taking a daily inventory, proofing and baking all the bakery products. Along with packaging, labeling and distributing goods in a timely manner. I was responsible for quality control, freshness and keeping the sales floor stocked. I was also responsible for greeting and assisting customers in the attached deli. Slicing and packaging meats and cheeses along with serving food items from our hot case. I made sure the hot foods were cooked properly, kept at the proper temperatures, making sure to keep the case well stocked and displayed appropriately. I also made sandwiches, salads and deli trays to order. My responsibilities also included maintaining the sanitary standards and keeping the bakery and deli clean. This was a physical job, which I enjoyed and feel very good about my overall performance in this position. I believe I delivered exemplary customer service to all guests, even in peak business periods to promote retention. Unfortunately, the company was going out of business and could not give me enough hours or pay towards the end.
I started my career working in high volume nightclubs in Dallas, Tx. I began as a hostess and then moved on to waitressing and then bartending. I loved the fast paced work environment and learned so much about costumer service, time management and how to work and move efficiently.
I then took my love for cooking and moved into the restaurant industry. I worked as a sushi chef, line cook, prep cook and baker. I worked for a company called 'I love Sushi' and then a popular French Cafe' called 'La Madeleine' I enjoyed both of those experiences very much.
In 2005 I moved from Dallas, Tx. to Charlotte, N.C. I worked at the Palomino Mediterranean restaurant in Uptown. I was a waitress there and elevated my dining & service skills due to the fine dining atmosphere. I found employment at another establishment when the Palomino closed its doors in Matthews at a small, family owned restaurant called 'Skinnyz Bar and Grille' I worked there in many capacities for the duration of that establishments existence between 2006-2012. I was a server, bartender, shift manager, and event staff. I was sad when they decided not to renew their rental space contract and shut down operations. I also worked for Fox & Hound Uptown as a server and the for Baileys when I moved to South Charlotte in 2008. I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and all of the events that were held there. After they closed I decided to use my education and move into an office administration position.
