Monique Dols is an early childhood special educator who is currently pursuing her Advanced Certification in TESOL at Lehman College as a recipient of the Academic Language Produces Higher Achievement (ALPHA) grant through the Bronx Institute at Lehman College. Monique is a knowledgeable and passionate early childhood math specialist with expertize in first and subsequent language acquisition. She works to provide targeted instruction for children with diverse cognitive and language profiles and needs. Monique is a multilingual professional who teaches many bi and multilingual children in collaboration with their families. She facilitates the process through which students bring their full language repertoire to the classroom using translanguaging approaches to subsequent language acquisition. Monique approaches her work through a social justice and abolitionist lens as a white co-conspirator for racial and educational justice. Monique has experience as a teacher of English Language Learners inside a K-8 progressive charter school setting, as a tutor and of adult English Learners.
