Commander's award for outstanding leadership as Machine Gun Squad Leader during two week training evolution at Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA.
As a Machine Gun Squad leader, I am responsible for the training, evaluation, and discipline of the 6 to 9 junior Marines under my command.
During deployment to Iraq: Most missions consisted of convoy security and mounted patrols. Some convoys were detainee transportation missions.Conducted pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections of transport vehicles and equipment.
Detainment facility work included: Monitored inmate behavior to prevent crime, escape attempts and other dangerous activities. Conducted internal security checks and distributed meals.Maintained daily logs of shift activity.
