Opened and closed an extra elementary classroom at Hawthorn Elementary designed to provide an alternate learning environment for students with a variety of educational needs. 

  • My goal as a teacher in this room was to assist the student through listening, understanding, creative reteaching and guidance in order to transition the student back into the homeroom setting as soon as possible.
  • This classroom became a safe-haven for many students and provided an alternate environment for learning that was unconditionally accepting, calm, and filled with enriching learning opportunities that students came to love. 
  • Daily student attendance ranged from between 15-20 students per day on average and up to 35-40 students at times.
