Fundamentals of nursing care, performed medication administration, general behavioral and mental health principles and techniques in care and treatment of individual or groups of developmentally or mentally disordered patients. Performed nursing skills and procedures as regulated by licensure and certification, establish effective therapeutic relationships, function effectively in emergency situations. Follow policy/procedure. Basic level of general nursing and behavioral/psychiatric nursing care consistent with PT scope of practice. Administer medications, therapeutic agents and treatments to patients. Continuity of care, timeliness of medication delivery. Observe and monitor patient for subtle or overt signs of mental illness and their response to mental health treatment including psychotropic medication, symptom management, and ability to perform activities of daily living. Crisis intervention. Effectively manages patient behavior in therapeutic manner. Performs disease prevention/infection prevention and control for patients. Performs point of care testing, finger stick glucose tests. Obtains documentations for clinical data (vital signs, height, weight, and observations of patient behavior) overall health and mental health and reports results to RN or appropriate health care provider. Educates patients in self care, wellness, symptom and disease management. Assists RN and care team in development and implementation of individualized treatment plans.
