Conduct psychiatric evaluations and determine level of care for both inpatient and outpatient facilities. Serve as lead clinician for patients with bipolar, depression, anxiety and personality disorders. Quickly respond to crisis situations when severe mental health and behavioral issues arise. Efficiently gather information to inform development of treatment plans. Document all patient information including service plans, treatment reports and progress notes. Collaborate closely with treatment team to appropriately coordinate client care services. Interact with clinical staff and external resources such as school or community personnel. Teach clients anger management techniques, relaxation skills, impulse control, social skills, emotional coping skills and functional living skills during group therapy. Monitor patients prescribed psychotropic medications to assess the medications' effectiveness and side effects. Consult with psychiatrist about client medication changes, issues with medicine compliance and efficacy of medications. Guide clients in understanding illnesses and treatment plans. Create and review master treatment and discharge plans for each client.
