Over 4 years experience in the addiction and recovery field performing the 12-core functions of a LADC to underserved/diverse populations, specifically individuals of all cultures with significant criminogenic backgrounds who also struggled with mental health and substance use disorders (tri-occurring focus), and providing clinical supervision to clinicians and student interns. Continuing to seek more opportunities to contribute clinical practice to an underserved population and share knowledge and experience with clinicians who are also looking to enhance their clinical skills. Versatile and dedicated clinician pursuing opportunities to secure further acceptance in the mental health, alcohol, and drug counseling community where I can further learn and contribute to the environment of addiction and recovery regarding clients and clinicians. Extremely motivated and proactive in addressing and resolving problems in the evolving community while excelling in communication, solution-focused thinking, and client-centered services. For years I have took on the role of training interns and assisting them grow as clinicians and utilizing clinical skills while doing the same with clinicians. I have also been president of a student organization that assisted students achieving personal, educational, and recovery goals. I was overseeing other officers of the organization while speaking and tabling at recovery and school events. I have assisted in establishing internal processes and developing ways to better serve clients while providing guidance and assistance to staff also.

I worked as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor providing direct care and case management services to clients, completing assessments and referrals, providing individual and group counseling, and performing all of the 12-core functions as an LADC. I worked in collaboration with clients' caseworkers and legal team while also working with clinical team/staff (mental health, peer recovery staff, other clinicians, etc.) to enhance care and provide effective services to clients in the program. This program is heavily based on evidence-based curriculum; which I am trained in and able to facilitate to clients.
I served as a chemical dependency counselor at MN Adult and Teen Challenge for roughly three years while providing clients with person-centered care (Group and individual sessions) through applying person-centered, evidenced based, and best practices/approaches. I was competent and performing all 12 core function of treatment processes. I contributed and worked well as a team member with other clinicians to enhance client care and provide the most beneficial and ethical services available. I also trained 4 interns while working for MN Adult and Teen Challenge to further expand the field and help develop more competent counselors going in to the field.
A paid internship where I was able to hold my own caseload of clients and provide direct care while engaging in the opportunity to excel in my ability to be an efficient and effective alcohol and drug counselor. I was able to provide care and work on becoming more competent in the 12 core functions and client-centered care through evidence based techniques.
