  • Office operations/supplies/special requests and orders Filing/maintenance of all legislative documents and incoming special interest and legislative-related print material Secretarial direction and appropriate use Daily legislative and personal calendars/timely prompting to ensure that obligations are met in an efficient manner Daily contact with committee operations to make sure delegate has latest list of bills that are in the subcommittees he chairs and attendance of committees when needed Organization and maintenance of guest calendar entries to ensure that all who visit are given attention, heard, and appropriate, accurate responses Consistent problem-solver/flexible/time efficient Coordinate and staff fundraising events, and write thank you letters Schedule and select location for town hall and teletown hall meetings Schedule and attend staff meetings Plan and staff annual unity picnic and oyster roast Legislation: Bill tracking/thorough understanding of the procedures and legislative rules/understanding the current status of patron legislation and other selected bills and being able to communicate in regard to specific pieces of legislation to a variety of audiences Maintenance and organization of constituent contacts and summarizing information when needed Creation, organization, and maintenance of chief patron bills, bill folders, support information, and contact people/groups Personal understanding and daily monitoring of key pieces of legislation/monitoring daily House sessions as well as Senate sessions after Crossover or whenever appropriate Daily session calendar and accompanying support documents/ documentation of daily voting record Lobbyists-knowing the "who's who" in the lobbying arena and communicating with them when special needs arise Knowing and efficiently communicating with those who represent Henrico County Government, schools, and other special groups within the community Technology: Daily email receipt and response/sorting and maintaining for future reference/creation and use of response agents Creation and maintenance of excel spread sheets Networking and communicating with technology staff members and maintaining a reciprocal "admiration society" support system Attendance to all available training sessions in order that up to date technology questions are answered and convenience in usage maximized.
