Current working on a gonococcal population genomics project which aids on investigating the spread of gonorrhea in New York City. My primary contribution to the project consist of Isolation of genomic
DNA from Neisseria gonorrhea for sequencing using the 5-prime tm Kit; Performing QC in 25% of the isolates , and send purified DNA to Wellcome Trust Snager Institute, UK for genomic sequencing; Preparation of frozen cultures for future genomic extraction. In addition of major role on GC project also have been training for the use of (PFGE) Pulsed Field Gel Electrophoresis for Molecular Typing of Bacterial Species, PFGE strain typing which is used to determine the genetic relatedness of collections of bacterial isolates and use this information to aid epidemiological investigation. Trained and proficient in Biosafety Level 2 procedures; proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); specimen Handling and transporting; chemical reagents handling and transporting; decontamination of workstation; spills; clean ups and safe work practices.
Semen analysis; morphology assessment; semen preparation for intrauterine insemination (IUI); preparation of (IVF)
samples for intracervical (ICI); preparation of patient samples for freezing; post-thaw analysis; performed routine
cryogenic procedures including tank checks, vial transfers, quality control checks (vial labeling, number and type of
vials); preparation of dry shippers; processing of clients' vial pickup and return; preparation of blood samples and daily
operations; testing; maintenance and QC of the immulite 2000 analyzer and associate record keeping; participation in all aboratory activities to ensure all protocols were in compliance with all local (New York State Health Department) and
Federal (FDA) authorities and the joint commission of lab accreditation; performed routine cleaning of laboratory
equipment; assisted with laboratory supply maintenance; performed opening and closing duties and communication of any incidents to the Laboratory Supervisor.
