Description of Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions: This position primary purpose is to provide Justice Coordination for individuals, with special consideration to children who are victims of crime in Bay, Calhoun, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, and Washington Counties as identified by the State Attorney’s Office, Law Enforcement, and other community partners. Specific functions of this position are listed below. The position also includes additional functions as needed and/or assigned by the Administration.

Primary Function: Justice Coordinator

· Meet with child victims and their families to complete assessment of need.

Provide an explanation of available victim services within community agencies

assess client needs, make referrals as applicable, and advocate for

needed services. Work with the victim and family to assess the impact of the crime.

Provide in-person crisis intervention, emotional support, and guidance for victims

of crime. Perform safety planning with identified victims to ensure safety.

· Provide assistance in filing Victim’s Compensations Claims including making the

victim aware of the availability of the crime victim compensation, assist in victim

relocation when applicable, assisting the victim in the completing the required

forms, and any follow up needed. Assist

with restitution advocacy on behalf of crime victims

· Provide case management with entities to include: GCCAC, DCF, State Attorney’s

Office, and Law Enforcement through in-person contacts, telephone contacts, written

communications with victims to offer emotional support, provide

emphatic listening, check on victim’s progress, and to ensure that appropriate

services are in place. Attend multi-disciplinary staffings on behalf of each victim

to facilitate the coordination of services.

· Coordinate with Victim/Witness Coordinators from the State Attorney’s Office,

the GCCAC, and Law Enforcement agencies to ensure primary and secondary victims

are provided with accurate information concerning

upcoming court procedures and have ample time and opportunity to interact

with the investigators and prosecutors assigned to their case and to ensure

that appropriate services are in place. Assist with Victim Impact Statement. Be

a liaison with other agencies on behalf of the victim as needed. Assist in the recovery

of a victim’s property that was retained as evidence previously.

· Set-up and maintain client and/or program files. Establish and maintain case

Management files on each case as directed.

· Successfully complete required training and knowledge of skills to enhance abilities

of position to include buy not limited to Victim’s Designation Services Practitioner.

· Provide public awareness, and education presentations (including,

But not limited to, the development of presentation materials

Brochures, newspaper notices, and public services announcements) in

Schools, community centers, and other public forums that are designed to

Inform crime victims of specific rights and services and provide them with (or

Refer them to) services and assistance.

SVA/ Gulf Coast Sexual Assault Program , 06/2015 to 10/2018

Primary Functions

  • Contribute to the growth and development of the Sexual Assault

Program.

o Assist with the creation and implementation of program goals.

o Ensure that the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence (FCASV)

standards are adhered to through all phases of program planning

and implementation.

  • Accountable for the development and implementation of the

GCSAP (Gulf Coast Sexual Assault Program).

o Participate in training of GCSAP advocates.

o Participate in making presentations about the GCSAP services to

medical staff, social service agencies, the criminal justice

system and other community organizations.

o Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation as part of the GCSAP.

  • Responsible for providing services to victims of sexual violence

using the empowerment model.

o Provide on-call crisis intervention with adult and adolescent

sexual violence victims and their loved ones.

o Provide team advocacy, service management, emotional support,

outreach services and online support services to teens and adults.

o Provide victims information regarding their rights and options.

o Accompany victims throughout criminal and administrative proceedings.

o Provide information and assistance, as needed, regarding

Victim’s Compensation.

o Advise victims regularly of the status of their case.

o Work collaboratively with all community agencies involved in

the victim’s recovery process. Update community resource guide

annually.

  • Accountable for documenting information as required per agency policy

o Enters information into the agency’s computer system, within

48 hours of the provision of any service. Ensures all information

is entered correctly and is up to date.

o Assist with administering participant satisfaction surveys that are

used to evaluate the program.

o Assist with gathering necessary information and completing monthly,

quarterly and yearly reports.

  • Participate in performing tasks necessary to achieve program goals,

and complete tasks by assigned date.

  • Responsible for participating in and completing all required opportunities

for continuing education

o Complete the required 30 hour ACT for sexual violence victim-advocate

privilege as mandated by law by FL ST 90.5035, within 30 days

of starting the position; 6 hours of ongoing SV training annually.

o Complete all other trainings as required by the agency.

o Ensure all mandatory training requirements are up to date per

agency policy.

  • Additional duties and responsibilities:

o Attends all mandatory agency and staff meetings.

o All other duties that may be assigned.

· Furthers the goals of the agency by working with participants in an empowering

manner and building partnerships with key community agencies.

o Carries out responsibilities in a fair and consistent manner.

During the years I worked in retail I was originally hired as an associate and then worked my way up into a management position. During my time in management I lead teams of two to six in the operations of store functions.
