I have been working for DTE for approximately 6 years now. I came into the company as a cable mechanic and went through the cable splicer apprenticeship, now work out of Redford as a Journeyman Cable splicer. Prior to DTE I worked for Corby Energy Services for a brief time as well as Wide Open West Cable company. Through all the work I have done dealing with contractors, customer service, and directly working in the field, I feel I have developed the skills that could make me a great asset to the Underground Technician group for Detroit Edison Company.
As a Journeyman Cable splicer I am responsible for coordinating and assisting with any and all Sub-transmission, and Distribution work. Along with the Distribution through the URD system, I build and repair the streetlight systems and any primary services. Through all this work, I directly work hand in hand with contractors, the public, other utilities and DO groups on a daily basis. In dealing with such organizations, I must maintain and keep up to date records and logs on all work preformed and communicate work to be done. I lead crews in executing all tasks associated with the job as well as provide red tag protection for contractors and other DO groups.
My duties as a cable mechanic, was to splice all URD, Streetlights in the DTE system. I also was required to dig, trench and shore underground jobs for repairing cable.
