Hours per week: 40 Duties: Serves as lead Interior Designer for a variety of military projects which include training facilities, dining facilities, housing, medical facilities, elementary & high schools as well as other administrative and public use buildings; clients include the Army, Army Reserve, Air Force Reserve Command, DoDEA and DDESS.
Interior design duties include providing quality customer service, identifying and analyzing user needs, furnishings space planning, selecting and specifying finishes, furnishings and preparing construction documents.
Assists in developing and maintaining FF&E design criteria for the Army Reserve and DoDEA customer and identifying processes and procedures that are no longer effective and / or efficient.
Designs and develops furniture acquisition packages ranging from $200K to $3.5 mil and prepares all documentation to support GSA-mandated studies from which the government will purchase and install furniture packages.
Provides Quality Assurance (QA) design reviews of design packages developed by in-house team, A-E firms or both to ensure adherence to provisioning guidelines and fundamentals to provide accurate and timely communication with customers as well as serves as strategic resource for the customer's implementation team.
During construction period assists in resolving interior architectural problems that arise, coordinates efforts of Construction Division (CD), Geographic District (GD) and Lead vendor prior to furniture installation which includes onsite building verification and compliance with the 0800 section.
Supports DoDEA and DDESS as the onsite lead installation Project Manager during furniture installation for the entire installation duration.
During the installation ensures that all clients' milestones and deliverables are met in a timely manner, including time sensitive moves, new products, multi-carrier and/or multi-product solutions.
Properly set customer expectations and continuously evaluate status of project and evaluate factors prohibiting any commitments to the customer.
Responsible for keeping installation plan current and available to the customer as needed.
Post-installation performs detailed product inspection (for Military projects and DoDEA/DDES customer) of materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications.
Discard or reject products, materials, or equipment not meeting specifications.
Generates data reports and discuss inspection results with those responsible for products, and recommend necessary corrective actions.
Knowledge and skill sufficient to evaluate and incorporate the most recent developments and technologies in the field of interior design into current projects and technical requirements.
Knowledge and ability to modify standard practices and adapt techniques to solve a variety of problems, alteration and rehabilitation of the interiors of buildings and facilities.
Familiarity with the disciplines of architecture, electrical, mechanical, structural engineering, and facility management to provide for the coordination of interior design work and provide for necessary modification or other requirements in the meeting of project objectives.
