Education and Training
Southeastern Illinois College | City, StateSome College (No Degree)
FFA Alumni

After retiring I have been involved in helping the local FFA by putting together a group of folks to build a FFA Alumni chapter in our county. We wanted to raise money to furnish scholarships to students that want to have a career in agriculture. I was elected president and served for 3 years. During this time we started an annual fish fry. It started out small but after three years we were serving just under 1600 meals. This allowed us to send FFA members to the national convention, attend conferences, and go to different judging shows. The program is still going on but has been curtailed due to COVID.

Gardening

I enjoy raising a big garden every year. It gives me time outdoors and also allows me the chance to give my produce away to folks that are unable to get out and do it.

County Chairman

In 1990 I was elected to be the Republican County Chairman for Gallatin County. During this time I dealt with the local committee and the state party. I sat in on several meeting with Gov. Edgar and his people and was allowed to give ideas on helping our area in jobs and transportation.

Summary

I am a life long resident of Gallatin County. My family has lived here for over a 150 years. My children have moved to larger communities to be able and find work. My Son Travis is a teacher at Marion Il and my Daughter Katie is a radiology tech at Evansville Indiana. I would love to see jobs come to our local area so the young people can stay and raise their families here.
