Strong subject areas include high school practical writing, speech, and English. I am an English Teacher who possesses exceptional people skills and sensitivity to high school students' specialized and changing needs. I have a desire to continue building a strong foundation of life lessons to the young minds of our future generation. I am also a highly dedicated teacher passionate about making the high school experience a positive one for all students. With my compassionate nature, I work with each student individually to help them achieve academic goals to instill confidence. My course materials are presented in a clear, interesting and innovative way in order to create a stimulating learning environment in which students can develop to their full potential. My experience working in a public charter school setting has made it possible for me to work with students of all levels and backgrounds.
As a first year teacher, I was chosen and given the privilege to teach an AVID course, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. AVID is a college readiness system for elementary through high school education that is designed to increase school wide learning and performance.
I am the first teacher to ever teach the AVID course at the Richard Milburn Academy-Houston Suburban campus.
