Hey my name is Torrance Seward Jr. But family and friends call me T.J. I was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. I ended up being at home a lot when I was supposed to be in school due to misconduct and fighting a lot. I was suspended or in ISD almost every week to every two weeks for misbehaving. I would later get ahold of myself in high school not getting suspended or in any serious trouble. As a result of this my overall grades got better and I was also involved in boxing a lot more around this age. I actually started boxing at age 11 just FYI and I still do some today. Boxing Helped me calm down a lot and I was able to stay out of a lot more trouble due to the sport.
Somehow down the line I found myself as a laborer for my fathers company Seward Floors. It was seriously hard for the first couple months especially balancing boxing and working for my father. Through the mist of coming into my own in this world I started having all sorts of back problems and noticing problems that could‘ve been there my entire life. I found out about a weak left paraspinal in my neck and a scapular dysfunction causing me to be very weak on the left side of my body. This would cause problems down the line for me.
Most importantly the pain I went through for 6 plus years in back trying to box, work for my father and eventually running my own business taught me how to truly be strong. I had a lot of stopping points in my life while trying to get to where I wanna be. Lots of physical Therapy, time off from work, not being able to tend to customers, and not being able to continue on my journey to becoming a great boxer. It got to a point where I could only be in environments where people knew what I was going through so they would know how to handle me with my dysfunction going on. Some nights I couldn't sleep and some days it was hard to breath. I got tougher over time with better treatment and more intensive care than expected. I had a car detailing business and personal training business that kept me afloat until my LLC went void in 2019 while being in the hospital.
In conclusion, my life went from looking Like a millionaire by the time I was 20 to the time I was 24. I had a legit chance of being a great boxer a lot people will never know and most who were around it or witnessed it will. I always wanted to be a professional boxer but my life is starting to turn more towards the entrepreneurial side of things which I have no problem with. I plan on working for myself full time in the future and helping out those truly in need. I gained a lot of experience through my trials and tribulations and I feel I'm a good fit for any company.
Great work ethic
Started boxing at age 11 being self taught first And having my older peers that I knew sparring me and showing me the ropes. Eventually at age 14 feeling good enough to go to an actual boxing gym. Not realizing I had actual talent I would tell coaches I was just there to train but really feeling out the gym. I was first at 9th dimension sports circle and then within 3 months I transitioned to police athletic league due to 9D not training me properly. At PAL (police athletic league) I actually was able to spar and learn how to box. At PAL is where I learned I truly knew how to box
I just needed some more fine tuning to be able to compete. I was getting better each spar but eventually my scapular dysfunction would get the best of me causing me to take long extended periods recovering when I should be training. I would stronger each year and smarter but most of the time would be more sore than the other boxers but still competing. FYI if you weren't good in PAL at boxing the coaches would let you know. I was even told I would go pro as long as I got over that hump. I'm currently putting boxing on hold due to some financial issues. But it was fun while it lasted just thought I would give you guys that fun fact about me.
