Conducting research on developing a decision tool to assist management of prescribed fires in the Flint Hills region in order to reduce smoke impact on ambient ozone. The research entails retrieval of daily burned-area data from combined satellite data, identification of key management factors that affect the timing of prescribed rangeland burning through survey among land managers and modeling of daily O3 under impact of prescribed burning with input from daily burned-area data.

The research focuses on “Modelling of Flow Resistance and Heat Transfer for Heated pipe flow with CO2 at Supercritical Pressure using Simple Heat Transfer method". Thermo-dynamic cycles for energy conversion were developed with carbon dioxide (CO2) at supercritical pressure. Analytical methods were implemented in MATLAB in which the fluid properties are imported from a REFPROP. Comparisons were done with experiments from literature as well as in-house DNS computations.
