  • 3.75/4.00 GPA
Accomplishments
  • Science talk and poster presentation in 2019 Geospace Environment Modeling (GEM) workshop, Santa Fe, NM. Poster title: Investigating the effect of inductive electric fields on the dynamics of ring current hot ion population.
  • Poster presentation in 2019 American Geophysics Union (AGU), San Francisco, CA. Poster title: Role of the inductive electric field in the ring current particle energization and trapping.
  • Poster presentation in 2020 virtual Geospace Environment Modeling workshop. Poster title: Investigating the effect of inductive electric field on the evolution of ring current hot ion population.
  • Poster presentation in 2020 virtual American Geophysics Union. Poster title: Role of the inductive electric field on the build-up of storm-time ring current.
Project
  • Modeling of 3D Nonlinear Quasi-compressible Flow: Developed a numerical fluid dynamics model for 3D compressible fluid flow, with effects of advection, diffusion and pressure gradient/buoyancy forces.
  • Finite Difference Integrator for Heat Diffsuion: Developed both explicit and implicit integrator for Poission-like diffusion equation, under mixed Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions within arbitrary rectangular domain. Validated the integrator code by applying the solver to problems based on real life scenario, such as a room of hotel with both walls and windows, with an arbitrary heat source distribution.
  • Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) Simulation for Radiation of Single Frequency Current Source: Simulation of the Transverse Magnetic (TM) electromagnetic field radiated from an infinitely long single frequency current source in free space, located in a two dimensional Perfect Electric Conductor (PEC) cavity using the FDTD method. Implemented the Perfectly Matched Layers (PML) absorbing boundary conditions to eliminate the reflection on the PEC boundary. Performed code validation and error analysis on the designed staggering FDTD scheme, and incorporated more features consists of conducting sheet with slots, to investigate the single slot diffraction and multi slots interference of the radiation field.
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of Generalized Eigenvalue Problem in Homogeneous Rectangular Waveguide: Examined the electromagnetic field distribution on the cross-section of a homogeneous rectangular waveguide using the Finite Element Method (FEM). Derived formulate the corresponding weak solution of the fields in both Transverse Electric (TE) and Transverse Magnetic (TM) modes through Finite Element Analysis. Generated triangular meshes on the two dimensional computational domain within the waveguide, and discretized the FEA weak solution formulation into linear system. Performed the code validation and error analysis on the simulated field distribution across the waveguide and the associated cut-off frequency of each propagation mode.
  • Scatter Field Analysis of Perfect Conducting Cylinder with the Method of Moment (MoM): Investigated the scattered electromagnetic field from perfect conducting square cylinder, under incident field as certain plane wave, simulated using MoM. Formulated the corresponding integral equation along the boundary contour of conducting cylinder, on which moment analysis is performed to solve for the induced surface current density. Discretized the resulting integral equation and establish the associated linear system, from which the induced current density on conducting cylinder due to the incident field is solved. Implemented the integral calculation for the scattered field in terms of the calculated induced surface current due to incident field, and perform associated code validation on the simulated scatter field and total field, in addition with error analysis.
