I believe in making learning fun and interesting through a contextualized and relatable approach that students can engage in and make sense of. As an experienced classroom teacher, I see it as my responsibility to both engage and inspire a new generation of children, as each one of them has an extraordinary capacity to learn. It is my strong belief that students learn best when faced with challenging units of work that are of genuine interest to them so that they can take ownership of their own learning. In addition, subjects should be taught through a cross-curricula approach, making ties and connections wherever possible so that students can understand and notice the relevance it has. Moreover, this approach provides the children with a real sense of meaning and purpose to their learning and by providing ‘provocations' and ‘hooks' at the start of a unit that helps to engage students right from the off. In class, I like to use technology whenever possible as I recognize the importance of this to the modern day learner. In addition to this, I believe strongly in collaborative work, as it not only has the capacity to enhance children's speaking and listening skills. Children themselves enjoy this way of working, as it allows them to learn from one another. As well as developing a child academically, I also believe that it is my job to develop every child both socially and emotionally. It is important that every child is able to recognize who they really are and express themselves in the correct ways. I always try my best not only to nurture a child's talent but also to help heighten and expand it.
