I have been described as "an unusually gifted minister who is very perceptive of people's feelings and issues." I think that's probably true; at least I hope it is. I believe that if I strive to incarnate God's grace, love, and acceptance in my interactions with others through my ministry, then my faith becomes a living faith that will impact their lives. In my sixteen years of paid and volunteer Chaplaincy service I have seen this happen numerous times.
In addition, I have developed strong administrative and interpersonal skills that could prove valuable to you should I be given this position of part time Chaplain at Cooper. I enjoy being a resource person for others who need my knowledge and experience. I adapt well to changing environments and limited resources when I have to. I am calm and peaceful in crisis situations and can provide excellent pastoral care no matter the situation or environment I work well as a team member and enjoy working together toward a common goal. I am creative and innovative when circumstances call for it, and I love a challenge. Finally, I am experienced in working with community churches to provide ongoing pastoral care for those in need.
Although I retired from full time Correctional Chaplaincy in 2010, I am very involved in volunteer prison and jail chaplaincy, particularly in the area of re-entry preparation for ex-offenders. Currently,I am involved at the Camden County Jail providing abuse recovery groups for women, re-entry classes, and pastoral care and counseling for inmates when needed. I also am the director of Sanctuary House Ministries Inc founded in 2014 which seeks to assist justice involved women make a successful re-entry to society.
The full ecclesiastical endorsement for Chaplaincy ministry that I received from the Assemblies of God in 2001 remains in force. In fact, in 2014, I received Advanced Ecclesiastical Endorsement from them because of my experience and the variety of ministry that I am involved in.
I do feel that I would be a good fit for the position offered at Cooper because it is a part paid time position (hard to find) which would allow me to continue my other ministry interests, while still enabling me to be a valuable part of a professional team that provides Pastoral Care to the staff and patients of Cooper Hospital.
