FULL TIME PROTESTANT CHAPLAIN
Professional Summary

I have been described as "an unusually gifted minister who is very perceptive of people's feelings and issues." I think that's probably true; at least I hope it is. I believe that if I strive to incarnate God's grace, love, and acceptance in my interactions with others through my ministry, then my faith becomes a living faith that will impact their lives. In my sixteen years of paid and volunteer Chaplaincy service I have seen this  happen numerous times.

In addition, I have developed strong administrative and interpersonal skills that could prove valuable to you should I be given this position of part time Chaplain at Cooper. I enjoy being a resource person for others who need my knowledge and experience.  I adapt well to changing environments and limited resources when I have to. I am calm and peaceful in crisis situations and can provide excellent pastoral care no matter the situation or environment  I work well as a team member and enjoy working together toward a common goal. I am creative and innovative when circumstances call for it, and I love a challenge. Finally,  I am experienced in working with community churches to provide ongoing pastoral care for those in need.

Although I retired from full time  Correctional Chaplaincy in 2010, I am very involved in volunteer prison and jail chaplaincy, particularly in the area of re-entry preparation for ex-offenders.  Currently,I am involved at the Camden County Jail providing abuse recovery groups for women, re-entry classes, and pastoral care and counseling for inmates when needed.  I also am the director of Sanctuary House Ministries Inc  founded in 2014 which seeks to assist justice involved women make a successful re-entry to society.

The full ecclesiastical endorsement for Chaplaincy ministry that I received  from the Assemblies of God  in 2001 remains in force.  In fact, in 2014, I received Advanced Ecclesiastical  Endorsement from them because of my experience and the variety of ministry that I am involved in.

I  do feel that I would be a good fit for the position offered at Cooper because it is a part paid time position (hard to find) which would allow me to continue my other ministry interests, while still enabling me to be a valuable part of a  professional team that provides Pastoral Care to the staff and patients of Cooper Hospital.

Full time Protestant Chaplain as part of a multi- faith team to provide Pastoral Care to Protestant inmates of the prison through worship services, Bible studies and Pastoral Counseling, both group and individual. Worked with area clergy to facilitate ongoing support for church members who were incarcerated. I also provided Sacramental support for the Protestant inmates through Baptism and Holy Communion.. I was able to establish a mentors program in my time there which matched older Christian inmates with younger Christian inmates to assist them in their spiritual development and adjustment to long term incarceration.

Education
Clinical Pastoral Education / 1 Unit: Hospital Chaplaincy, 2000
Akron General Medical Center - City, State
I did my Clinical Pastoral Education at Akron General, a level one trauma hospital very similar I would think to Cooper Hospital. It was a seven month program and I was exposed to all aspects of Hospital Chaplaincy. During my time there I was constantly challenged in all aspects of ministry. I can truly say that my experience there was formational in both my professional and private life. Upon graduation I was offered a position as a Chaplain Associate, but I was headed for prison chaplaincy instead.
Master of Divinity in Pastoral Counseling: Pastoral Counseling, 1991
Ashland Theological Seminary - City, State
I graduated Cum Laude from this Seminary and continued my education there by taking Advanced Clinical Pastoral Counseling classes in 1999.

Ordained minister: General Council of the Assemblies of God from 2000 to the present.Received full Ecclesiastical Endorsement as a Chaplain from the Assemblies of God in 2001 to present. Advanced Endorsement in 2014.
