In July 2018 I switched to Floor Crew. As a member of this two person team I help maintain the floors in all 36 of our Goodwill stores. This includes vacuuming carpets and mats, sweeping and mopping hard floors, using an auto scrubber on hard floors, and buffing tile. Occasionally we will strip and wax tile. I also drive a full size pick-up truck pulling a 16' box trailer on a daily basis.
Beginning August 2017 I switched over to working at Dayton Christian School on Goodwill's Janitorial Contract. I was the Contract Manager over eight other employees. We handle all the janitorial for Dayton Christian School, which is a Pre-K through 12th grade campus. This campus is six buildings two have three floors the others have one. We clean all restrooms, classrooms, offices, cafeteria, hallways, and remove trash. As manager I make sure all my employees are completing their nightly tasks, I order supplies, and keep track of signing off on employee timecards.
Stocker- Beginning June 1st I switched to being a shelf stocker at the Commissary on Wright Patterson Air Force Base. I stock shelves during the day while the store is open. I am also in frequent interaction with customers. Besides stocking I occasionally use a pallet jack to move skids in the warehouse and I operate a cardboard baling machine. Also I occasionally have to drive a company vehicle to run supplies on and off Base.
Janitorial/Housekeeping- Starting October 1st I switched to an outside contract at Widows Home of Dayton. I am responsible for the general cleaning and upkeep of the hallways, three lounge areas, three dining areas, eight bathrooms, and ten offices. I am responsible for maintaining the floors to include but not limited to using a walk behind floor scrubber, waxing floors, and vacuuming. I also handle waste removal for the building and fill in for other housekeeping duties as requested.
Janitorial Supervisor- I am in charge of all cleaning for the home office. I currently supervise one other janitor. My responsibilities include but are not limited to; cleaning the restrooms, vacuuming, dusting, waxing floors, taking out trash/recycling, and general cleanliness of building inside and out. I also handle general maintenance inside the building such as; changing fluorescent bulbs, changing ballasts in light fixtures, moving furniture, outlet repair/replacement, general plumbing issues, and other minor maintenance issues.
Janitorial Cleaning- On a weekly basis I performed general cleaning throughout the church building, including but not limited to the sanctuary, classrooms, and restrooms. I performed these duties on a flexible schedule.
I was the Team Leader for the kitchen. I assist management in maintaining an organized/clean kitchen. I prepare and cook the chicken. I occasionally am responsible for closing the store. This includes supervising three to six employees, counting registers, counting and inputting sales into the computer, and closing/locking the store up for the night.
I was the direct supervisor for 10 individuals at the International Truck Plant in Springfield, Ohio. My crew took care of all the trash and cardboard recycling in the main production building. We handled the restrooms and offices on an as needed basis for the entire plant. I had one person that ran the floor sweeper and scrubber daily, and I oversaw two full time painters. As well as supervising these people I handled the offloading of any and all tanker loads at the Above Ground Tank Farm. These were products such as Diesel, Synthetic ATF, Antifreeze, etc I also handled any concerns that would arise in the Stamping Plant and Paint Facility.
Janitor Prior to being promoted into a supervisory position I was originally brought in as a janitor. In this position I handled clean-ups as they would arise throughout the plant. I also helped the other positions on an as needed basis.
Forklift Operator - As an operator I would move skids, bales of cardboard, and parts, around the inside and outside of the facility.
Tugger Operator- Also while in this position I frequently had to operate a tugger to move containers on and off of the manufacturing line.
