Professional Summary

Passionate and compassionate are the two words that best describe me as an educator. After twenty years, teaching is still my spark; it is what ignites and inspires me. After a year of much change and professional growth, I feel compelled to take a step in a direction I have thought about for some time. I am seeking a position as the drama teacher at West Jackson Middle School. I would embrace the opportunity to teach drama. I have implemented drama and play performances with all students I have taught for the past twenty years, and witnessed first hand the value that theater arts have for language development, communication, creative expression, reading comprehension, collaboration, and confidence. When all of these components come together, the students develop a sense of pride and accomplishment they will never forget. Numerous studies reflect that participation in the performing arts increases academic achievement. I am beyond excited about the possibility of being the drama teacher at West Jackson Middle School. I would love to share my spark with the students and ignite a love of drama and theater within them! Please consider me for this position.
