I have a strong desire to obtain a job teaching young people the needed skills, information, and theory to become professional law enforcement officers. It has been a dream of mine for many years to move into teaching/instructing after my successful career as a Federal Wildlife Officer. My goal of obtaining a Master's Degree in Public Safety Executive Leadership was in preparation for a career after law enforcement.   • I perform as the field supervisor (Patrol Captain) for the North Alaska Patrol Zone. I conduct supervisory duties to include setting work standards and priorities, managing a budget, guiding and directing subordinate officers, producing annual performance evaluations, and assisting with subordinates' professional development. I approve time and attendance, leave requests, travel, acquisition requests, and conduct all other aspects of front line supervision.
  • I also function as a fully commissioned Federal Wildlife Officer performing a wide range of law enforcement and conservation duties. I network as appropriate with State, local, and Federal law enforcement partners as needed. I interface internally with National Wildlife Refuge System managers and biologists and function as a part of a team striving to accomplish management goals and objectives.

I provided interpretive programs/tours on dam and powerhouse operations and water safety as a routine part of my position.
  • My functional area of responsibility from 1991-1994 was as Project-wide Training Coordinator for 50+ employees. In 1994 I moved into the Public Awareness program lead where I routinely produced news releases, responded to media inquiries to include radio and television interviews. I conducted special event coordination duties and worked closely withe the Project Leader to produce public and inter-agency presentations for his position. I continued with my dam and powerhouse and water safety interpretation role and also taught other rangers how to perform these duties.
