As a youth mentor, I work one on one with different children who have experienced or are dealing with emotional, behavioral or learning difficulties. I work with each client in a therapeutic environment to help the child work toward and focus on his/her goals from the treatment plan provided. I take the child to places such as the library, park, river, duck pond, social functions within the community and local stores, just to name a few. This encourages the child to work towards his/her goals with another adult outside the family. My role is to support and help the child to be his/her best at home, school and beyond. Also, to help the child incorporate his/her goals into everyday situations. I provide a listening ear when sometimes he/she may feel unnoticed by peers or family. I also help to provide consistency for the child during a difficult time or transition phase. After each session, I write case notes that document activities participated during out visit, progress made towards goals, overall assessment of child as well as future follow up plans.
As a cheer coach with the Hamilton Middle School, I work closely with students grades 6th - 8th I conduct after school practices teaching and coaching each student on basic cheerleading fundamentals and techniques. I teach the students cheers, chants, dances and basic stunting. I attend every home game to coach and supervise the cheerleaders while they cheer for their team; we cheer for volleyball, football and boys and girls basketball. Our cheer season is eight months and the longest running sport at HMS. I am responsible for the complete supervision and welfare of the students while at practices, games and fundraising events. During the summer, I volunteer my time for additional practices, games and fundraising. I also provide 100% communication with each parent and student in forms of group messaging and written information in regards to expectations, scheduling and upcoming events. I take pride in my coaching position and have gained respect and recognition from HMS students, school staff, parents and the community during my total tenure.
