Professional Summary
I have spent the last four years in the navy as an ELT (Engineering Laboratory Technician) as a member of the smallest, but one of the most crucial divisions on board a nuclear power carrier. As ELTs we maintained all the radioactive material and waste on board the ship with a zero tolerance for error physically and administratively; practicing with the greatest attention to detail possible. We are also the on board chemistry experts maintaining the supplies and equipment as well as performing the analyses, samples and calculations to maintain both the reactor and steam plants chemistry conditions in regulations set forth by Naval Reactors. We acted as the resident radiological control supervisors, overseeing all radiological or contaminated system maintenance and operations and upholding the strictest regulations to maintain the Navy's incident free track record. Being an ELT also means we were selected from among the top 15% performing mechanical operators and we maintain all mechanical qualifications and stand these watches regularly as well and perform mechanical system related maintenance when it comes up.

  • Countless hours of performing periodic radiological surveys both in and out of plant spaces and maintained survey records for assessment; including utilizing gamma spectroscopy technology to obtain water-born radiological data for dozens of water sources.
  • Preplanning surveys for work on primary systems as well as frequent in process job specific assessments to ensure personnel safety and that exposure is being maintained at a minimum.
  • Properly and methodically maintaining, storing and transporting any unneeded radioactive material or waste produced during maintenance or operations of the plants.
  • Maintained shutdown reactor/ steam plant chemistry in specifications for an approximate 6 month ship yard PIA period during which complex unusual condition were present and parameters were changing co.
  • Served as Work Center Supervisor (eye level work team manager) for 9 months during one ORSE cycle; maintaining a team of 6 colleagues work schedules, daily/ weekly/ quarterly goals and planned and organized all of the required maintenance during that period including the creation of new several new quarterly maintenance schedules and a new cyclic schedule.
