I am an ambitious student pursuing the opportunity of a Physician Assistant education. This would allow me to have the knowledge to apply my dedication for working with others in the medical field. I have a strong passion for both of my jobs as an EMT and resident assistant. Not only do I enjoy helping ensure safety and care for the public and residents, I love the simple conversations that I have with each person. If given this opportunity, I promise to apply my adaptable personality and my drive to succeed in the program.
Big Brother Big Sister
Bogan Elementary Oxford, Ohio
Over the past three years, I have developed a relationship with my "little brother." I help him with school assignments, family and friend issues, along with just spending time participating in extracurricular activities with him.
Oxford Fire Department Oxford, Ohio
While at the fire department, I volunteered for 12 hour shifts by helping clean the station, wash the trucks and bay, and riding with EMTs and paramedics during emergency calls. I learned how to assess patients, take baseline vitals, and provide a comfortable environment during transport. This was a great way for me to gain clinical experience during my EMT education. I also enjoyed being a part of a team of healthcare professionals and seeing how each member worked together for the overall benefit of the patient.
Breast Cancer Education and Awareness
Through my sorority, I helped raise money and education others on breast cancer. I helped organize events bringing together the Greek life community to support a common cause. I also helped pass out ribbons and pamphlets teaching others how to assess their risk.
Society of Women in Medicine Mentorship Program
I remember as a freshman pre-PA student, I was overwhelmed and often doubted myself. I wanted to find a way to help similar students become adapted to the college environment and prepare for their future goals and careers. Through this program, I mentored a younger pre-PA student through spending time with her, helping her with classes, scheduling, and the mental struggles of the pre-med track. I also helped her research patient care experience. Even though I served as her mentor, I know this experience lead to my personal growth, too.
Society of Women in Medicine Service Committee
I was in charge of coordinating service events for the Society of Women in Medicine organization at Miami University. I helped set up a program to write encouraging letters to local nursing homes to connect the students of Miami with the community and elders of the area. I also helped our organization set up and volunteer at blood drives.
