Instruction
I provided small group, individualized instruction and support for students, in both push-in and pull-out settings, to help them strengthen their reading and writing skills, as well as build confidence in themselves as readers and writers.

I also worked collaboratively with classroom teachers and parents/guardians to implement a quality, individualized plan to help each student grow as a reader and writer.

Assessment
I helped assesses the reading strengths and needs of students, and created individual goals for each child. I also worked within the school to assess the Literacy programs provided to the students.

Leadership
As the reading specialist, I served as a resource to other educators, parents, and the community. I also served on the school Intervention and Referral panel, collaborating with teachers, case managers, psychologists and administration.

I designed and facilitated a school wide Spelling Bee, and Annual Reading Awards Nights to help students celebrate their reading progress with their families and friends, and support the pride in successes of our students as they grew as readers and writers.

I organized a book donation with Acorn Books in Tenafly, New Jersey to provide books to classroom libraries. I sat on the planning committee for the new school library.
