As Executive Producer of The Austin Cinematheque
Organization and Documentation
- Drafted documents for internal meetings aiding programming and fundraising efforts, as well as compiling a Manual of club practices, goals, and campus (and state) rules applying to particular areas of fundraising and advertising
Program Management
- Reached out to graduated previous club presidents to revive and soon overhaul the club, incorporating an application and membership structure, as well as delegating responsibilities to further expand our reach
Plan Development
- Raised funds, scheduled screenings, booked prints from distributors, recruited a graphic artist to create all of our advertising, recruited a web designer to create a new site, had posters printed and then personally distributed them (to kiosks around campus, Vulcan Video, Spiderhouse, and other locations), distributed emails and social media (Facebook and Twitter) promoting each screening, planned with Spiderhouse an end-of-year screening/social for members, ensured our sponsors received all deliverables
Goal Setting
- Established a clear purpose for each screening, with the help of programming team, and outlined the merits of each selection in the Facebook event and program discussions prior and following each screening.
Technology Integration
- Increased programming breadth by incorporating DCP screenings with the traditional 35mm - still with the goal to screen independent, art house, and classic cinema.
Cultural Variation
- Compiled and edited a "Who we are" video showing clips of some of the 75 films shown prior to our revival of the club, as well as screening the first Turkish film in the history of the club.
Outreache and Niche DEvelopment
- To date, the club has screened 83 films from 17 countries spanning nine decades. We expanded the saturation by such outreaches as petitioning a Japanese club to co-sponsor a Kurosawa film, and having the Fellini film "Amarcord" incorporated in a sexuality class extra credit assignment
- I was interviewed by the Daily Texan for an article about the revival of the club.
Quality Communication
- Interacted with 50+ financial supporters, film distributors, club members, and private parties to ensure reliable and professional screenings.
- Our advertising budget grew from 0 to x to x in the two years I presided.
Production Value
- Raised x amount of money and used it to put on 8 screenings, 5 of which were on 35mm, as well as fund advertising efforts such as the website and poster distribution
Computed Data Reports
- Provided required budgeting and documentation to various financial benefactors.
Multi-tasking
- Ran this club while attending school full-time and working on various other personal projects such as directing and editing music videos.
