  • Provides elite care for unstable critically ill infants, feeder growers, premature infants, infants with cardiac anomalies, post-op infants, etc Works cooperatively and collaboratively with fellow nurses, medical doctors, neonatal nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, and other staff members to provide quality evidence-based infant care and give assistance when needed Performs clinical skills in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, and standards of practice Interacts with applicable departments regarding infant care and issues Monitors and assess infant status and notifies medical doctor/neonatal nurse practitioner, respiratory therapist of clinical changes Performs electronic charting of infant assessments, vital signs, status, medications, and intravenous fluids Manages multiple invasive lines (CVLs, PICC Lines, UVC, UAC, Tibial & Radial Arterial Lines, etc) and continuous drip infusions (Dopamine, Dobutamine, PGEs, Epinephrine, Morphine, Versed, Fentanyl, etc.) Involved in code situations (chest compression, code drugs, bag and mask ventilation, etc) Administers medications, intravenous fluids, breast milk, and blood products according to the five rights Provides adequate pain control and sedation Provides care for conventional ventilator, high frequency oscillator ventilator, high frequency jet ventilator, and inhaled nitric oxide dependent infants Assists with intubation and extubation process Assists with surgical procedures and line placements done at the bedside on the unit Obtains ordered labs via heel stick, arterial stick, or lines and performs IV starts Travels off the unit with vented and non-vented infants for procedures/tests Performs admissions of infants to the unit via transport Performs discharge teaching with patient's families Delivers family centered care and family education.
