Experience
Community Service Volunteer, 2017 to Current
Gryphon ScientificCity, STATE,
  • Managed community relations by identifying and evaluating opportunities for volunteer involvement.
  • During my involvement with the Junior National Honor Society, I participated in community clean-up projects at the local park (Fort Discovery - 2017), worked concession stands for the middle and high school softball team (2017-2021), and helped fundraise for local auctions (2017).
  • Created and promoted arts and entertainment, bringing passion and experience to elevate arts in local community. For example, I would take trips with my high school's art club to create window paintings for the patients at Geisinger Medical Center and Ronald McDonald House in Danville, PA. I have also restored and painted new designs on signs, kickboards, and other decorations for people in the community on behalf of the art club. I did this every winter and spring from 2018-2021.
  • Built partnerships with related organizations to develop support and gain greater attention for important issues. For example, during my junior year, I joined my high school's key club. We would often collaborate with Kiwanis and other adult volunteer organizations at local events and fundraisers (e.g., Toys for Tots, Caring for Kids, etc.). This occurred during September 2019-March 2020.
  • Worked closely with disabled individuals in the surrounding community during events such as Night to Shine, a prom designed for disabled individuals ages 14+, sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation. I volunteered for the "Buddy" role, in which I was paired with someone with special needs to be their date or escort for the evening. I would spend approximately 4 hours at the event or until our assigned guests requested to return home for the night. I volunteered in February of 2020 and 2023.
  • Participated in community clean-up days during August of 2021 and April of 2022 (e.g., SU Serve in Spring, SU Give in Autumn) with other SU students and staff as well as intermingled with local citizens to learn more about the culture in the area and various networks.
  • Led club activities to fundraise money for commuter students at SU (e.g., bake sales, car washes, movie nights, etc.) from 2022-2023.
Orientation Team Leader, 08/2022 to 08/2023
Susquehanna UniversityCity, STATE,
  • Spent approximately 14/hr per day for 10 days in-training with other O-Team Leaders prior to new student orientation & admission. I have been accredited for 72 hours of community service during new student orientation.
  • Promoted interaction among groups of new students by facilitating small group discussions and fun interpersonal learning activities.
  • Mentored students on successful strategies for integrating into college life and provided resources for them to utilize.
  • Communicated with students after orientation through social media (i.e., Microsoft Outlook, GroupMe, SMS, etc.)
  • Educated students on culture of institution, safety practices and ways to resolve conflicts to promote self-reliance.
  • Worked with outside departments and offices to resolve student concerns.
  • Displayed strong public speaking skills and communication abilities to facilitate interaction among new students, visitors, faculty, and staff.
  • Built detailed knowledge on locations and points of interest to thoroughly answer new student and parent questions.
  • Escorted individuals and groups to classrooms, seminar halls, outdoor learning spaces, and other points of interest.
