Dear Search Committee
I am writing this in response to your posting for a Central Sterile Instrument Coordinator. I have been looking for a job in Dallas and was extremely excited to come across this listing. My goal is to continue expanding my knowledge and to obtain my CIS, CHL and CER certifications.
I strongly believe that education plays one of the biggest roles in reducing replacement or repair costs. Many Sterile Processing professionals do not know how much chemicals, instruments, or the machines we use actually cost, and this can lead to a disconnect in understanding or caring about the correct way to use, handle, or operate these items. It is easy to tell someone to not do something. "Do not put that Stryker drill set through a lubricated instrument cycle," you'll hear, with no explanation following it, so you'll often see this person continue to send them through on the incorrect cycle, clogging the drills and creating hefty repair bills. I decided to change that environment as soon as I stepped into a Preceptor role. As a Preceptor for my department, I have used repair and replacement costs alongside my teaching and know this has made a difference in how my trainees handle instruments and place items in their sets.
I love instruments, learning how they are used, and applying this knowledge to how I work on a daily basis. I have a passion for surgery and love to find innovative ways to solve issues or streamline workflow, which in turn benefits the OR and our patients. I have extensive knowledge with regard to surgical instruments and I am the perfect candidate for an Instrument Coordinator position. I am looking to move up in my professional career in Sterile Processing and this has always been an incredibly appealing position to me. I believe that it fits my personality, skillset and capabilities perfectly.
An enthusiastic Sterile Processing professional with four years experience offering extensive knowledge of surgical instrumentation and proficient communication skills. Highly experienced in decontaminating, sterilizing, testing and packaging surgical instruments and endoscopes from all specialties. Natural leader possessing unique problem-solving abilities and a love for teaching.
