As of right now I am studying to apply for medical school in hopes of pursuing neo-natal or trauma surgery, but, am keeping an open mind throughout my journey because life happens and ideas change. I experienced this first hand when I started college as a direct-admit to the nursing program. This was what I wanted to do since elementary school and I hadn't even considered other options. It wasn't until half-way through my freshman year that I opened my mind and changed my path. I decided to take a leap of faith. I changed my major to biology with a pre-health concentration and although it was what I genuinely wanted to do, it was terrifying. The fear decreased immensely when I changed my mindset. It was no longer four more long years of school and who knows how many more training for a career, it was four more long years to continue learning. Four more years to build relationships with others. Four more years to push myself, grow and to learn how to create the most meaningful interactions with others. This year, I picked up and completed a religion minor. I did this in order expand my knowledge on world regions and cultures and feel this is important both in a career and in life. I am also doing work on my own time in order to better understand different levels of psychology, ethics and Spanish. I would like to soak up as much information and knowledge as I can in my life-time and I feel as though this would be a wonderful opportunity for building new relationships, self-growth, learning and becoming an intricate member of the health care community.
