Cognizant Technology SolutionsCity, STATE,
021115 Personal Genome Diagnostics 06/02/2015 Baltimore, Maryland, USA I am writing this letter to apply for the post of Bioinformatics Software Engineer in your Organization, which I came across via LinkedIn. Below, I have briefly outlined my skills which validate me as a competent candidate for this position. Having worked as a Programmer Analyst for two years, I have acquired sharp programming skills as well as, highly polished interpersonal skills. I have a good amount of experience involving querying and scripting languages like SQL and UNIX. I have also worked extensively on developing and maintaining MySQL databases for the client projects, which included data management and analysis. During my tenure, I have involved myself in various other creative activities which strengthened my skills as a team player and harnessed my multi-tasking abilities. My current program at my university has exposed me to scripting in PERL, which I use for developing Bioinformatics related applications. Also, I am efficient in sequence analysis software's like BLAST and Geneious. My prior education in biotechnology has contributed to an in-depth understanding of overall cellular and molecular metabolism, which helps me in analyzing experimental and clinical data. Further, my Co-op program at Momenta Pharmaceuticals has given me an opportunity to practically apply and test the concepts that I learnt. During my summer Internship, I designed and developed a SQL database for autoimmune disorders. I also built a Knowledge Hub on Oncology resource's using the SharePoint tool. In the current project, I am working on NGS datasets, where I am involved in analyzing RNA-Seq data. This involves data processing, pipeline automation, correlation and variant analysis of the gene expression and variant data. I am also building an application that aims to automate the annotation of SNP variant data. I am proficient with using R for the statistical analysis of the aforementioned datasets. I am also very familiar with using browsing tools like NCBI, UCSC genome browser, IGV and Galaxy. Apart from these, I am an active participant of the weekly discussion sessions, where I communicate my ideas in an effective way to the scientific community Having outlined my skills above, I believe I am a perfect match for this position with the required experience. For further communications, I can be reached at XXX-XXX-XXX or contacted at I look forward to address all questions that you may have concerning my candidature. Thank you for taking your time and consideration. Sincerely,
