Experience
Assistant Landscaper, 08/2015 - 05/2019
American Residential Services Lawrence, KS,
  • Used power tools, equipment, and vehicles to maintain campus (including but not limited to, leaf blowers, chainsaws, power washers, power trimmers, Honda push-mowers, riding SCAG mowers, gas powered edgers, etc.)
  • Regularly used irrigation equipment (hoses, pipe cutters, Teflon, irrigation systems, clocks, primers and glues, and pipes).
  • Frequently was required to drive vehicles and machinery such as full-sized Class C pickup trucks, trucks both automatic and standard, electric carts, and forklifts.
  • Did standard maintenance on SCAG mower such as greasing, fueling and oiling, and replacing/fixing wheels.
  • Generally managed grounds by mowing, trimming plants, planting, blowing off, watering, doing PVC irrigation projects, weeding, etc.
Handyman/Intern/Construction-Worker, 06/2018 - 08/2018
YWAM City, STATE,
  • Maintained Grounds, Building, and staff needs in the following ways: kept landscaping up to staff's preference (mowing, weeding, pruning trees, etc.), repaired gas lines for on campus dryers, fixed leaky roofs, malfunctioning toilets, and mechanical car-door windows, etc.
  • As an intern, I cooked meals, taught English in Spanish in a private setting as well as in a public school (grades K-6), transported teams around in vans and trucks (all standard not automatic vehicles), and tutored elementary school students.
  • I also was required to be the translator on several occasions from and to Spanish (settings ranging from the construction site, to being the 3rd-party translator of one on one conversations, to some events and group environments).
  • For construction, on one project I painted walls, cut tiles, made interior window trim, installed electrical outlets. On the second project, I was part of a team that built a house from the ground up including making a concrete foundation with concrete blocks, mortar, and a gas-powered cement mixer. We laid the foundation, constructed the walls, painted inside and out, put in the windows pitched the roof, and installed rib steel sheeting for the roof.
Independent Contractor (Painter/Carpenter), 05/2019 - 08/2019
My Father (employer) City, STATE,
  • Did restoration work on a 200 year-old 3-story captain's house including but not limited to: scraping lead paint of its exterior clapboards, tearing off overlaid vinyl siding, re-nailing clapboards, and priming its entire exterior. Such restoration work required my ability to use hammers, scraping tools, safety equipment, ladders, scaffolding, and painting equipment (strictly brushwork).
  • Built a 16' X 20' work-shed with my father from the ground up including foundation work. The work included laying concrete pads, leveling them, assembling 8" X 8" beams, putting up floor joists, floors, walls, paneling, roof, and windows.
  • In previous years, I completed other work on the house including: leveling the floors and stabilizing the foundation using braces and bottle jacks, interior remodeling (removing wallpaper, caulking, sanding new plaster, and painting), re-shingling the roof, and constructing a rock wall with mortar.
Plumber's Helper, 11/2019 - 12/2020
Ace Pelizon Plumbing City, STATE,
  • Among other things that I did, my roles at Ace Pelizon Plumbing were to manage the parts room, pick-up and drop off orders, to take notes on vehicle folders assigned to me, and to assist technicians in all things plumbing, and plumbing related.
  • Every Monday, the techs, apprentices, and helpers (basically the same as apprentices except for coursework modules, some outside training, etc.) record updated information on the vehicles they are assigned to ensure are in good working condition. I often monitored multiple vehicles, taking down information such as tire psi, fluid levels, checking for leaks, battery functionality, etc. If the vehicle needed repairs, we did not do that but sent it to an auto shop.
  • Managing the parts room included re-stocking items, replenishing what techs used off of their trucks (giving them back in bins what is listed on a form), keeping a list of what needs to be ordered, etc.
  • Assisting technicians in plumbing included: Jetting, house calls (installations, repairs, assessments, cabling lines, etc.), jack-hammering, digging, using primer, glues, parts, and pipe, etc. Doing the various jobs we did included using power tools and equipment such as drills, sawzalls, angle grinders, a hammer drill, a Honda generator, Hiltis, etc. We also used many non-power tools such as ratcheting socket wrenches, crescent wrenches, pipe wrenches, 6-1 screw drivers, wire snips, pipe cutters, etc.
