administered by PMSS/DPKO. Acted as the focal point for the recruitment of individual contractors/consultants, the
promotion and SPA recommendations for locally-recruited staff members, Mission Subsistence Allowance, Hazard Pay,
Compensation Claims for those staff members and Military Observers/Civilian Police who were injured, became ill or lost their
lives as well as claims for hazard insurance.
Within delegated authority and in coordination with the Chiefs of Administration Section of ECLAC Mexico City/ECLAC
Santiago, acted as the Chief of the Personnel Unit of the ECLAC Sub-Regional Office in Mexico City providing a wide range of
personnel and administration-related services for more than 100 staff members in the Sub-Regional Office of ECLAC and for
the Liaison Office of UN Environmental Programme. Responsibilities included ensuring that all administrative actions were in
compliance with UN Staff Rules and Regulations as well as the Financial Rules and Regulations. Assisted senior officials wtih
the best practices of human resources management including but not limited to ensuring that job descriptions were updated
and approved, vacancies were circulated months in advance, recruitment was timely and entitlements were provided on time.
Also assisted in the recruitment of individual contractors and consultants on Special Service Agreements engaged to carry
out the mandate of the office and for the various economic projects that the office was involved in in the Central American
region. Managed and supervised the Personnel Unit comprising of 3 personnel assistants, providing guidance, mentoring and
coaching as needed. Ensured that the Language Teaching programme ran smoothly and that staff members develop/enhance
their skills through internal/external training.
