  • I perform a variety of senior-level duties related to the administration and program management of the Department of Surgery (SUR).     I serve as the responsible Billing Official for SUR; adheres to all required purchasing processes, policies, and procedures; and maintains the Government Purchase Card statements in accordance with University policy and procedures.
    I formulate and evaluate administrative policies and procedures for the office; provides technical oversight for administrative functions; defines administrative work standards; writes and issues internal administrative instructions and procedures; coordinates office policies with those issued by other organizational components of USUHS (Uniform Services University of the Health Sciences); follows through on actions with USUHS administrative support offices to ensure completion of requests; and serves as the Department's point-of-contract for overall budget, personnel, procurement, security, data system and other administrative matters.
    I develop and prepares personnel actions for recruitment, classification and reorganizations within SUR; advises and provides guidance to managers regarding various alternatives and human resource management; initiates recruitment actions within SUR for personnel management; provides advice on manpower utilization, workflow, and operational procedures to increase efficiency, productivity; makes overall improvements for the office; and identifies developmental and training needs of employees.
