I have been in licensing for many years entering data, auditing to make sure requirements are met and assisting the public and Board members in a very timely manner. I take great pride in my job and helping people as much as I can by getting licenses issued as quickly and efficiently as possible. I will assist co-workers and managers in any way needed. I do not require constant oversight to get my job done. I know what I am supposed to do and I get it done.
I process Comity applications for Professional Engineering. I currently have around 250 applications in my inbox. My duties include reading over the applicants experience to determine if they meet the requirement depending on what exam have been taken. Checking their education to make certain they have the correct type of degree and that it is ABET accredited. Checking citizenship status, determining what status they fall under and asking for the appropriate documentation for the status being claimed if they are not a U.S. citizen. Checking other states licenses to determine if they hold an active registration in another state and which exams they have taken and passed. Checking answers to questions. Verifying references meet the Tennessee Board of Architectural and Engineering Examiners requirements. Once all required documents are received the files are prepared for Board review. They are placed on a secure server after being checked for complaints and the Board members are notified that they're there. Once the review is complete, I attach the two reviews to each file, status them as complete and send them to the Director for approval. I also keep a running list of those who have received registration and their addresses on a excel spreadsheet that is sent to the state printers for certificates to be made periodically. I have processed engineer intern applications, renewals, continuing education, Reapply applications, status changes and Corporation, Partnership and firm disclosures. I receive about 50 to 75 emails a day directly and from customer service and answer phone calls to assist applicants. Unless I'm out of the office, they're usually answered very quickly but they're always answered within 24 hours. Backing up my manager when she is out of the office by answering her emails and phone calls. Communicating with Supervisors and co-workers to make them aware or to help solve problems.
