Adapted Physical Educator/liaison with over 34 years of successful experience in providing a comprehensive, student centered program based on my knowledge of assessment, implementation and a variety of service delivery models and created a mentorship program specific to Adapted Physical Educators regarding teaching, testing placement and documentation of student improvement using knowledge of state and national standards. Strengths in problem solving, providing creative solutions, providing support not only to students but to families for peaceful solutions to ongoing disagreements. Skill analysis backed by training in biomechanics, kinesiology, anatomy and physiology and other science courses necessary to complete the Adapted Physical Education degree which allow clear communicate readily with doctors, therapists and parents regarding student disabilities and need. And a Good understanding of IDEA and the previous law 94-142 that allows students with disabilities the opportunity to receive a full and robust education with modifications and adaptations to allow for student need to be met.

created an IEP goal set to assist educators in building standards based lessons
Mentored over 35 new and seasoned Adapted Physical Educators throughout my career.
Advocated for the Adapted Physical Education Aquatics program that endured safe movement opportunities for students with specific needs.

It has been a great honor to serve the children in our state and in Oregon and to work closely with like minded teachers who go out of their way every day to make meaningful connections with students so learning can occur.
I have submitted my intent to resign from my position effective August 1st, 2021.
I have enjoyed my return to work status after my initial retirement 4 years prior.
I did sit out of teaching for a year as per requirement for return to work service.
I look forward to learning how the ombudsman position can improve education in our state and improve communication between parents, teachers, staff, and students.
