Presented at the Middle School conference to a packed house on raising test scores.

Social Studies scores were extremely low at North Augusta Middle and I was a 1st year teacher. Dr. Frank Robertson met with our Principal and myself and wanted a plan to boost test scores. I created a plan called the South Carolina Seven as there were seven standards at the time. I stayed true to the plan and at the end of the year our test scores were one of the highest in the State. I was asked to present at the Middle School Conference on my plan. I was initially given a room that would hold 25 people. One week before the conference the State Department contacted me and let me know they were increasing me to a room that would hold 50 people. The next day they called and said they were increasing me to 100 people. The day before the conference they moved me to a room that held close to 250 people. The room was filled with Teachers, Principals, and Superintendents. As I was giving my presentation a lady stood up and said she agreed with everything I was saying. This lady was the head of the Social Studies department at the State level. Later at my school in North Augusta I was challenged to spread my plan across all subject areas. To this day several teachers still use my method and they have some of the highest scores.
