Aerospace is a competitive field, so you will need to create the best application you can. Spend time writing a resume that draws attention to your best qualities as an engineer. If you went to a prestigious institution, you may want to move your education section to the top of your resume to ensure the hiring manager reads it.
Your cover letter introduces you and explains what you can do for the company. Avoid simply rehashing your resume but be sure to shine a spotlight on the best parts of it. It should also show off your personality in a professional way.
Joining the military is also a route you might consider. While certainly not for everyone, the service branches are almost always looking for capable young aerospace engineers. The military takes care of your day-to-day concerns, provides opportunity for advancement, and gives you plenty of experience for the private sector if you choose to leave.
