Dear Ms. Granger,
I was by the shop today and spoke with the general manager Mr. Harvey about joining your staff as an apprentice mechanic. He suggested I contact you and mention him by name. So here is my resume.
I have always loved cars and started formal training in auto mechanics while still in high school. I took a series of shop and automotive science classes and did well enough for my instructor to give me work. Under her supervision I learned how to read blueprints and spent a lot of time reading manuals. Starting with basic repairs I grew into diagnostic testing and gradually received hands-on experience in the computer systems used in today’s vehicles. I learned how to use the latest tools for maintaining vehicle performance. My instructor helped me get into vocational school where I learned the specifics of hydraulics and drivetrains. I have finished training and completed and passed all the necessary exams. Unfortunately my long time teacher lost her shop. So I have been looking for a place to begin as an apprentice mechanic. She referred me to Mr. Harvey who said I should contact you.
I would like to come in for an interview so you can see why I would make an excellent apprentice mechanic.
Best Regards,
Jameson Gould
