A recommendation letter should promote a candidate the same way a resume or cover letter does, except the voice is going to be from a knowledgeable third-party. These letters can be either professional or personal. A professional letter will come from someone that knows the candidate from previous employment. The personal version, like this Apprentice Electrician Recommendation Letter, comes from a respected person that can speak to character.

To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing this recommendation on behalf of Jon Desmond. I have known Jon and his family for many years as members of my church. I know he is looking to become an Apprentice Engineer and I believe he deserves the opportunity.
The integrity, honesty and enthusiasm you see in Jon is the result of his upbringing. His father is a deacon at the church and a Journeyman Electrician himself. For over 10 years, Jon Sr. has been the congregation’s go-to fixer. And whenever you saw Jon Sr. and his truck, you saw Jon. The young man has been learning about wiring, fixtures and work ethics since he was at least seven. Today, he is the man I turn to to keep this rickety old church of mine from going dark.
Jon Desmond will make a fine Apprentice Electrician. I have seen his work and I have seen the energy he puts into doing it. I am proud of young Jon and look forward to following him on his journey.
Regards,
Rev. Perry Janis
