Accomplishments
Assisted in implementing and subsequently teaching an updated New Volunteer Orientation process for all new volunteer hires. Upon completing my 90 days with Driscoll Children's Hospital, I reviewed and independently interviewed and scored 115 teen applicants for the Summer VolunTeen Program in addition to my daily job duties. Ultimately, I selected 91 teens for the 2016 Summer VolunTeen Program and while training a new Volunteer Coordinator, also conducted three separate New VolunTeen Orientations within approximately 10 days. I recently assisted in The Hospital Experience which is a career day type event held for local high school students interested in a career within a hospital setting.

  • Liaising with departments within Driscoll Children's Hospital (DCH) for which they are recruiting volunteers (e.g.charities and councils) to understand how they work, develop partnerships and assess their volunteering needs.
  • Working with various departments to include Human Resources, Occupational Health, Marketing/Public Relations, Development, The Center of Professional Development and Practice, and Patient Relations on various projects within DCH.
  • Generating appropriate volunteering opportunities and role descriptions based on the needs of DCH.

  • At Intake: Read and help evaluate referral material, participate in pre-placement interviews, and in coordination with the staff, suggest the foster home best suited for the child.
  • Develop the child's individual service plan with 3o days of the child's placement considering the strengths and needs of the child and biological family.
  • Supervision of case load (18-25 children maximum) which included developing interpersonal relationships both in and out of the home.
  • Considered the child's adjustment to psychological, educational and social problems and/or changes.
  • Considered appropriate disciplinary methods, medical and dental needs, school adjustment, preparation for placement goal, biological family and any miscellaneous problems.
  • Mentored troubled students and helped organize healthy group discussions between adolescent children and their families and also between siblings and other children in foster care.
  • Ensured open communication between educators/administration, foster parents, child protective services, and the child's biological family.
