Hands-on Nurse Manager with extensive peri-operative nursing experience looking to expand my knowledge base. In addition to my clinical and management experience I was privileged to be part of the executive team that converted a portion of a free standing surgery center into a three bed state licensed acute care hospital. I was originally hired to be an OR Circulator. However, I quickly was assigned to the role of charge nurse for the OR and then my responsibilities increased to include oversight of the sterile processing staff and then the PACU staff. I was given the title of Nurse Manager and I
became responsible for supervising surgery, sterile processing, and PACU. This included direction of nursing staff, oversight of patient care, establishing work schedules, coordinating meetings, and collaboration with physicians and other departments of the hospital. I would ensure everything operated efficiently, this included solving issues that would come up, performing reviews, providing staff counseling and discipline, counseling and discipline, making sure educational opportunities and in-services were available to staff and that the units followed federal, state, and Joint Commission regulations along with current standards of care. I assisted the Director updating and writing job descriptions and developing new hire and annual competencies.
During my time with PBRMC I had the unique privilege of supervising the physical move of a hospital Surgery Department from one location to another. The professional moving company that was contracted to help with the move gave us the complement of saying it was the smoothest move of an Surgery Department they had ever been involved in.

I was first hired by Poplar Bluff Medical Partners as an operating room (OR) RN Circulator. In 2008 I became the OR Supervisor. In 2010 I was promoted to the Nurse Manager of The Surgery Center. During the last year and a half of employment with Poplar Bluff Medical Partners I was acting on the executive level to help develop the policies and procedures for the planed
three bed hospital Black River Medical Center (BRMC). I continued to work with the executive team on the development of the hospital until licensure was achieved, despite my decision not to take the position as Director of Nursing. As the Nurse Manager I managed the patient care and nursing staff of a 4 OR and 3 GI room surgical center. I acted as infection control nurse, materials manager, and Sterile Processing manager ensuring that AORN standards and CMS CoP were maintained. During development of BRMC I acted as Director of Nursing and developed patient care, infection control, & sterile processing policies, assisted with development of other hospital policies. I acted as Materials Manager for BRMC and purchased all supplies and assisted with purchasing of capital equipment for the initial opening and licensure inspection. I interviewed and hired nursing staff for BRMC. I developed the staffing plan, and assisted with the development of our core measure monitoring plan. During the time of development and planing for BRMC I continued to be responsible for the management of The Surgery Center.
