Appko Inc. was a small silicon based startup and Cisco partner when I joined. Focused on consulting projects. I reported directly to the three partners who formed the company. My first assignment was managing a Salesforce project for Walmart. Appko Inc. then began to specialize in Cisco's Intelligent Automation for Cloud (CIAC) which is a highly customizable comprehensive cloud management platform capable of delivering a wide range of services from underlying infrastructure to anything-as-a-service for Cloud Infrastructure such as Cisco's Unified Computing System (UCS) for provisioning virtualized environments. In the beginning I conducted code-a-thons to recruit and hire an on-shore/off-shore team of software professionals. My role then was Delivery Manager. I worked onsite with the team to deliver customized versions of CIAC for clients such as the Department of Energy, Marriotts and PayPal. We implemented CIAC for PayPals IT team one year and was invited back this time to implement a much more extensive version for the product development team who wanted to create it's own equivalent of RackSpace so that it's partners could develop their products in PayPal's cloud. They specifically wanted a much more simplified Apple like UX which we successfully delivered. At this point in time Appko Inc. had sufficient capitalization to fund the development of our own product called myCloudPod and I was promoted to Director of Applications Development. This new product offers the ability to provision and manage virtual environments on convergent infrastructure through self service automation featuring an advanced self service User eXperience (UX) which simplifies the complexities involved in managing cloud resources with an elegant, straightforward, easy to use human interface combined with an advanced degree of automation. A short video of myCloudPod is available on my linkedin page. In 2014 Cisco contracted Appko Inc. to take over the product development of CIAC and I was asked to move to Austin where the product development was being managed to lead a combined team of Appko Inc. and Cisco developers. Not wanting to move to Austin I left the company and joined PROUnlimited. Inc. that same year.
